1. Motor neuron disease inclusion dementia (MNDID)
On MRI, hyperintense signals are sometimes seen in the subcortical part of the precentral gyrus in MND patients, although their clinical significance is unclear. It is increasingly recognized that the pathology in motor neurons in classical motor neuron disease may be seen exclusively in the cortex in some patients with frontotemporal dementia. Other patients have a mixture of cortical and motor neuron pathology. This may be inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion, with significant intra-familial variation in the location of the pathology.
