Some modest innovations in Practical Neurology

After discussion with the editorial board, and the BMJ Publishing Group, we are going to make a few modest changes in the journal:

EDITOR’S SUMMARY

Starting with the August issue, there will be a new feature on the first page where, in about a couple of hundred words, I will summarise what is in the issue and comment where appropriate.

COMMISSIONED VERSUS SUBMITTED REVIEWS AND OTHER ARTICLES

At present almost all our articles are commissioned but we would like now to encourage readers to come up with proposals for reviews, difficult cases, me and my neurological illness, and other articles—not as a full manuscript but just a brief outline of the idea, which should be sent to the editor. If we like the idea, and it fits in with our aims, we will ask for a full manuscript to be prepared which we would normally expect to publish after open editorial and peer review (generally to improve the article, . . .
