TIBOLONE AND STROKE

A recent placebo controlled randomised trial of 4538 women with osteoporosis was stopped early. In the trial tibolone nearly halved the risk of spinal fracture, reduced the risk of non-spinal fractures, of invasive breast cancer and possibly colon cancer, but it doubled the risk of stroke (relative hazard 2.19, 95% CI 1.14 to 4.23). ANTIPSYCHOTICS AND STROKE

The use of all antipsychotics drugs is associated with an increased risk of stroke and this risk may be higher in patients receiving atypical antipsychotics compared with those receiving typical antipsychotics.
